GCU Career Fair receives
warm response
The Career Fair 2013 at
the GC University Lahore received an enthusiastic response as thousands of
the University’s graduates and final year students flock to the Career fair
to explore employment opportunities in reputed international and national
organizations, besides seeking information about the available foreign
scholarships. As many as 40 noted organizations set up their stalls at the
Career Fair organized by the GCU Career Guidance and Placement Center and
provided the students information about the available positions in their
organizations. The companies’ executives also conducted on-campus interviews
to shortlist the candidates. Besides cellular companies, a couple of media
houses also set up their stall and interviewed the students for the posts of
copy editors, anchors and reporters.

(Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman and NETSOL Chief Executive
Officer Salim Ghauri were the chief guests at the Career Fair, while GCU
Director Research, Innovation and Commercialization Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria
Butt, Director Facilities Yousaf Bashir and Placement Officer Hassan-ul-Haq
were also present on the occasion. The Vice Chancellor visited stalls of all
companies and discussed with the company executives their recruitment
polices and criteria. Prof Rahman said that GCU did not only concentrate on
theoretical teaching but also laid a particular stress on the confidence and
character building of its students, so that they can perform exceptionally
well in their professional lives.

Talking about the Career
Fair, GCU Placement Officer Hassan-ul-Haq said the fair was organized every
year to build a strong foundation for professional career of students so
that they could excel in market. He hoped that more than hundred students
would get job through the Career fair this year. However, he also said that
“the activity stands fruitful if even only one student gets a good job
opportunity from it.”
Later, the Vice Chancellor gave away shields to the representatives of the
companies. He also appreciated the active participation of the students and
multinational companies in the fair.

GCU’s
students to teach at under-resourced schools
The students of the GC
University Lahore would teach at the under-resourced government schools in
collaboration with international organization “Teach for Pakistan” and work
for improving communication skills, personality development, knowledge
enrichment and confidence-building of students, said GCU Dean Faculty of
Science and Technology Prof. Dr. Ikramul Haq while addressing a meeting of
GCU final-year graduate (honors) students who have volunteered themselves
for the cause.

said that the GCU Career Guidance and Placement Center is going to a sign an
agreement with “Teach for Pakistan” for deputation of the best of these
volunteers at different under-resourced schools, so that they can coach,
educate and motivate students of these schools by employing modern teaching
methodologies which they have learnt at GC University Lahore. He said that
more than hundred Ravians have volunteered themselves for teaching at the
government schools. Teach for Pakistan Director Recruitment Mariaum Ahmad
said that they would also pay scholarship money to the selected students who
would teach at these schools besides giving them acknowledgment
certificates. She said deputation of these bright students at
under-resourced schools would also improve educational environment of these
schools. She hoped that ever year, they would depute dozens of Ravians at
different under-resourced schools of Pakistan.
