Computer Science is
a vocational subject and in these days computers are used in almost
every walk of life, resultantly computer professionals are required to
run the computers, develop new software and to update the existing
facilities. To meet these challenges, the GC University Lahore
established the Department of Computer Sciences in 1999 in a
purpose-built, state of the art building with a highly qualified group
of teachers. This department offers courses at bachelor and master
level.
Facilities

The Department of Computer Sciences, GC University,
Lahore was established in 1999 in a purpose-built, building. Facilities
the department has air-conditioned classrooms and computer laboratories.
Four fully equipped multimedia laboratories each consisting of 50 latest
computer, servers and other peripherals such as scanners, CD-writers,
heavy duty dot-matrix and laser printers and available for students. A
separate laboratory consisting of 40 computers has been established for
postgraduate students in Oracle and Sub Java. A hardware lab has also
been established in the Centre for Advanced Studies in Physics. The

BS(CS) Computer Science
This is a eight
semester program spread over four years. A student has to complete at
least 130+ credit hour courses, around 40 courses, to get this degree.
This program enables a student to not only handle the sophisticated
systems, ranging from simple computer to mobile phones and robots, and
program them but also educate them to present their ideas by using
latest equipment and techniques. It prepares a student for the software
industry job market. Software Industry is the employer of computer
science graduates. A software company may employ from 2 to 5000
professionals. These companies are spread all over the world and offer

MS(CS)
Computer Sciences
It is four semester
program spread over two years. A student has to complete 36 credit hour
courses, 8 courses and one research thesis, to get this degree. This
program aims at providing the state of the art knowledge to the students
and prepares them to demonstrate their knowledge and command over this
field through a research thesis. Those students who complete this degree
are in great demand in R&D organization and teaching institutes and
universities.
