For more than one hundred and forty years of grandeur, excellence and prestige GC University Lahore is serving as a beacon house of knowledge and wisdom. Adding to that, it has become one of the most acknowledged study spots of South Asia. As an institution of historical significance, it has produced a number of prestigious and influential personalities in almost all walks of life.

GC University Lahore provides students with distinct and huge set up of Extra-Curricular activities. There are more than fifty departmental and university level societies and clubs. Hiking & Mountaineering Club constitutes a prestige designation among the university level societies due to its active participation and unique nature of activities. The Club was established in 1900. Since then it has been working under Sports Board and has been affiliated with Rovers Club. But now the Club has constituted separate and independent identity as a university level society.

Since the inception of mankind, man has been engraving his fate on the stones of hardship and despair. The great and perpetual endeavor on man's past is actually an outlet of his innate curiosity to know and explore. This is what the objective of the Club to guide and train the students of the University to meet any adventure and challenge to know and explore things in Nature!

GCU H.M Club celebrated 111th Anniversary & the World International Mountain Day

The international mountain day was celebrated by Hiking & Mountaineering Club, on December 11, 2012. The day was of unique importance due to the Anniversary of HMC and our worthy Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq Ur Rehman’s Birthday. The Worthy Vice Chancellor GCU Lahore was the Chief Guest and Mustansar Husain Tarrar, famous travelogue writer, was the Guest of Honor for this celebration. Saad Muhammad, a young mountaineer, Dr. Abdul Jabbar, vice president Alpine Club, Dr. Athar Hussain Shah, Founder HMC, controller examination GCU (Ex-President HMC) Mr Ashraf Shabbir Bukhari and many ex-Office Bearers of HMC attended the ceremony. Saad Muhammad and Col. Dr. Abdul Jabbar shared their experience about their expedition to the K2 base Camp and Spangtik Peek. Mustansar Hussain Tarar also shared his experiences while he was one of the most prominent members of this Club. At the end Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq Ur Rehman and Mustansar Hussain Tarar appreciated the work of the executive body of the HMC.

GCU-HMC excelled in Wall Climbing Contest

The GC University Lahore Hiking and Mountaineering Club (GCU HMC) has excelled in the two-day 60-feet All Punjab Wall Climbing Competition organized by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in DHA-EME Lahore. Kashif Fayyaz secured the extraordinary performance award in boys and Wishal Naveed, got third position in girls.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq ur Rahman congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of adviser and team of the GCU HMC.
