1. Research papers, notes, review articles, comments, rejoinders
and book reviews-in English only should be sent in duplicate
together with floppy in MS-Word to:

2. Papers will be accepted for consideration on the understanding
that they are original contributions to the existing knowledge in
the fields of History, International Relations, International
Political Economy, Current Affairs, Strategic Studies, Women
Studies, Sociology Journalism, Political Science, Statistics,
Psychology, Philosophy, etc.
3. Each paper should be typed and should carry a margin of an inch
and a half on the left-hand side of the typed page.
4. The first page of the research article should contain the title
of the paper, the name(s), abstract and any acknowledgements.
5. Tables for the main text and each of its appendices should be
numbered serially and separately. The title of each table should be
given in a footnote immediately below the line at the bottom of the
table.
6. Endnotes should be numbered consecutively.
7. All references used in the text should be listed in alphabetical
order of the author's surnames at the end of the text. References in
the text should include the name(s) of author(s) with the year of
publication in parentheses. Attempt should be made to conform to the
style of the Journal. Further information on questions of style may
be obtained from the Editor of this Journal.
8. Each author will receive two copies of The Historian.
9. Book Reviews should give a description of the contents of the
volume and a critical evaluation of the book. It should not exceed
05 or 06 typewritten pages. Each request for a book review in the
journal must be accompanied by one copy of the book concerned.
Call for Papers (The Historian - A
Biannual Research Journal)
Department of History, GC University, Lahore,
Pakistan invites research papers for publication in The Historian, a
referred bi-annual research journal. The next issue (Volume: 8
Number. 1, January-June 2010) is intended to examine the
relationship between culture(s) and the Pakistani state. The papers
should examine the institutional and pedagogical practices in the
post-partition Pakistani society. We would keenly welcome
theoretically innovative papers analyzing the nexus of culture and
the state-craft in the contemporary Pakistan .
Possible areas of study may be:
Institutional Matrix in Pakistan (Military, Police,
Bureaucracy)
Education as a controlling technology
Extremism, Modernity and Tradition
Pakistani Bureaucracy/Military as a cultural Elite
Pakistani institutionalization and cultural
homo/heterogeneity
The contributors may also discuss other themes with
the editor, The Historian, before submitting their papers. The
length of the papers should be between 6000 to 8000 words. Please
mail your CV and an abstract (400-500 words) by the 15 December 2009
to the Department of History, GC University Lahore.
