4 YEARS BACHELOR’S DEGREE PROGRAMME
The Universities and
Degree Awarding institutions of Pakistan (GCU Lahore also) have launched
integrated 4 year Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in all disciplines. This
4 year Bachelor’s Degree is recognized by the Higher Education
Commission (HEC) as being equivalent to a regular Masters Degree awarded
after 16 years of schooling. The holders of these degrees are eligible
for employment in BPS-17 and pursuing higher education in relevant
disciplines leading to M.Phil and Ph.D.

Admission and Payment of Dues

Admission to M.A/M.Sc./MBA Part
I classes in various subjects shall be made according to the schedule
advertised in the leading newspapers and the lists of selected candidates
shall be displayed on the University Notice Board. The selectees shall
be required to deposit admission dues by the notified date, failing
which, their admission shall be cancelled admission to the above
mentioned classes is granted strictly in accordance with the
regulations, rules and
policy of the University.
Note: The academic session starts in September
and concludes in May every year.
General Admission Regulations
TOP
-
Admission forms shall be submitted in
the same authorized bank from where the admission form is obtained
within the prescribed period of time notified by the University. No
admission form will be accepted after the expiry of the last date for
submission of admission forms except with the special permission of
the Vice Chancellor.
-
The list of candidates eligible for
interview will be displayed on the University notice board. The
candidates who remain absent or not considered suitable for admission
in this university in the Interview will not be eligible for
admission.
-
The University Authorities shall have
the right to reject a candidate's application for admission on ground
of unbecoming character or conduct. No appeal can be filed in any
court of law against the decision of Admission Committee.
-
The old students of the University who
were found guilty of misconduct or indiscipline and consequently were
punished or fined shall not be considered for admission to any class
or course or program in the University.
-
The University Authorities shall have
the right to cancel the admission, if at any stage after the
admission! it comes to their knowledge that the documents presented by
him are fake or there is a misstatement or there is a clerical error
in the documents which may affect his merit.
-
After the completion
of all formalities pertaining to admission, the list of the selected
candidates shall be displayed on the University Notice Board, The
candidates who fail In deposit their dues within due date will forfeit
their right of admission.
Eligibility Criteria

-
Those who are not above 26 years of age on the
last date of receipt of applications.
-
Those who have passed BA, /B.Sc, examination in
the last two years preceding to the year of admission.
-
Those who are not above 26 years of age on the
last date of receipt of applications for above classes. The age limit can
however be relaxed by the Vice Chancellor in deserving cases.
-
Those have not been admitted to M.A./M.Sc,
in the previous year in any College / Department of a University.
-
Those who have obtained at least 45%
marks in the aggregate.
a ) Those who have obtained 45% marks
in the subject in which admission is being sought. However this
clause shall not be applicable to the candidates applying for the
subjects of History, Persian, Philosophy and Urdu
-
Age and year of Passing may be relaxed
by the Vice Chancellor in special cases.

A student who has passed MA. Political
Science 2 years program from the GC University Lahore may be allowed
admission to M.A. 1 year program in the following subject:
Provided that he
has completed six courses in M.A. (Part-I and II) in either Pakistan
Studies or International Relations and will do six more courses
under MA. 3 years dual degree program.
Option A: Pakistan Studies
Option B: International Relations

Marks obtained in the subject concerned divided by two =
maximum 100 marks
-
Credit for division obtained in the examinations i.e. Matric, Intermediate,
and B.A/B.Sc. calculated according to the following formula: (15 marks)
Ist Division 5 marks
2nd Division 3 marks
3rd Division 2 marks

Department written test 60 marks
4.
Interview/viva voce 25 marks
Note: The test for admission to M.A/M.Sc.
will be conducted by the concerned department once only on the announced date
and time. No second test will be given in any case. A candidate who does not
appear in the written test shall not be considered for admission. Only those
candidates will be eligible for admission that pass in the test and interview.

Only those candidates will be called for
interview who have qualified written test i.e. those who obtained minimum 33%
marks in the entry test. The list of eligible candidates for test and
interview will be displayed by the respective Chairperson of the department on
the departmental notice board before the test and interview.
-
The candidate for M.A/M.Sc. shall submit four
attested passport size photographs and required documents along with the
admission forms. The supervisory staff of the concerned department shall check
the identity of the candidates in the examination centers. If impersonation is
detected and proved at any stage even after admission, his name will be struck
off the University rolls and he/she will be disqualified for any future
admission to this University. Original documents must be presented at the time
of interview. The candidates must bring their original National identity Card
while appearing in the test and interview.

The candidates for admission
to M.A/M.Sc. will be admitted provisionally by the respective Postgraduate Department and final admission will be made after the
verification of documents by the Registrar's office.
-
No admission will be made after the expiry of
the last date for admission announced by the University.
-
If a student fails to turn up in his/her class
within a week after the start of the class work,
his/her admission will be considered as cancelled.
-
Admission to M.A./M.Sc. classes on
the basis of Migration is not allowed in this
University.
-
Every candidate, who is selected, shall sign and
submit the following declaration.
"I, Mr. / Miss --------- s/o d/o --------
Student of ----------- solemnly declare that i have obtained -------- marks in the
subject of in B.A./B.SC. and these are correct and genuine. If at any stage
they are found incorrect, fake or tampered with, carry a misstatement or a
clerical error which may affect my merit for admission, my admission may be
cancelled and i shall be liable to be disqualified for future admission to
this University."
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBJECTS
TOP
-
B.Sc. and B.Com graduates
seeking admission to M.A. English must have passed English
Literature as an additional subject at degree level.
-
Students seeking admission to M.Sc Statistics Part I must have passed Mathematics
(Elective) at Degree Level.
-
B.Com degree holders are not
eligible for admission to M.A. Economics.
-
Admission in M.A. Urdu, Persian,
History and Philosophy will be open to all graduates
irrespective of the subjects they have studied at graduation level.
-
Students seeking admission to M.Sc.
Physics must have studied Mathematics at degree
level.
Note: Those candidates who come from semester
system their marks will be multiplied by 0.85
RESERVED SEATS
Disability Basis
TOP
One seat per Discipline may be reserved for the
disabled/ handicapped applicants (they will also be eligible for admission on
merit). They shall have to appear in test and interview of the department. A
committee of the University shall make the final selection.
Fata Basis
TOP
Two seats (one for Botany and one for Zoology)
have been reserved for Fata Candidates. Applications will be invited for these
two seats along with the candidates on open merit.
Admission on these two seats will be made on the
basis of admission test and interview the merit of Fata candidates will be
made on the basis of admission text and interview. The merit of Fata
Candidates will be determined from amongst the Fata Candidates against the two
reserved seats who have qualifies the test and interview.
Azad Kashmir
TOP
One seat (MSc) has been reserved for Azad
Kashmir candidates. Applications will be invited for this seat along with the
candidate on open merit.
Admission on this seat will be made on the basis
of the admission test and interview. The Merit of Azad Kashmir candidates will
be determined from amongst the applicants applied against the reserved seats.
Northern Area
TOP
One seat (MA) has been reserved for Northern
area candidates. Applications will be invited for this seat along with the
candidate on open merit.
Admission on this seat will be made on the basis
of the admission test and interview. The Merit of Northern Area candidates
against the reserved seat who have qualified the test and interview.
Other Provinces
TOP
Two seats (One MA and one for MSc) have been
reserved for each province, i.e. Sind, Balochistan, NWFP.
Applications will be invited for these seats
along with the candidates on open merit. Admission on these two seats for each
province will be made on the basis of admission test and interview. the merit
of these candidates will be determined from amongst the provinces candidates
against the reserved seats who have qualified the test and interview.
Scholarships For Bangladesh Students

in order to strengthen brotherly relations with
Bangladesh and promote Higher Education in the SAARC region, the GC
University, Lahore has instituted two scholarships (one each for MA and MSc)
for the student of Bangladesh. The scholarships will cover all expenses
including the hostel expenses. The names of the candidates and the subject in
which he/she has been selected for admission to MA/MSc with academic record
may be sent to Registrar Office by 15th September 2005 through the Department
of Foreign Affairs Islamabad, Pakistan. Eligibility Criteria is as under:
The medium of instructions in GC University,
Lahore is English. The Nominees must be fluent in oral and written English
language skills.
The candidates must have obtained at least 50%
marks in BA/B.Sc & 50% marks in the subject in which he/she seeks admission to
M.A./M.Sc.
Overseas Pakistani Basis

In addition to the seats for admission to the M.A/M.Sc.
Classes on merit 2 seats per Postgraduate Department have been allocated in GC
University Lahore for the Pakistani Expatriates or Children of parents working
in a foreign country for the session 2005-2007.
Terms and Conditions

General conditions for admission
against the seats reserved for Overseas Pakistani children shall be the same
as laid down for the candidates applying for admission to the M.A./M.Sc. class
in this University on open merit. They should, however, fulfill the following
conditions:
Eligibility

Students should have obtained
at least second class marks in B.A/B.Sc. Examination and in the subject in
which admission is sought.
-
Only those candidates will
be eligible for admission who have passed their B.A/B.Sc. in Ist annual 2005
or I or II annual examination of the last year.
-
The candidates should not be above 26 years of
age on the last date of the submission of admission form.
-
Their parents must be Pakistani working/engaged
in business in a foreign country.
-
In case a candidate's father is employed in a
foreign country, he/she should submit a certificate to the effect from his
employer. The specimen is attached with the admission form which should be
submitted along with the admission form. In case a candidate's father is
engaged in business in a foreign country, he should produce a document that he
owns/runs business in a foreign country.
Admission Procedure

The candidates should write
in Red ink "Overseas Pakistani" on the top of the admission form.
-
Four attested copies of the recent passport size
photographs should be attached with the application form along-with the
attested copies of following documents:
a) Photocopies of the Certificates
b) Character Certificate from the institution, last attended.
c) The proof of candidate's parents being Overseas Pakistani.
d) The proof of employment or business in a foreign country.
e) Father's National Identity Card.
f) Applicant's National Identity Card.

The candidate
shall have to pay Rs. 50,000 at the time of admission along with
regular dues in 5th year class. However in 6th year he/she shall pay only
regular dues.
-
The candidate applying on
this basis, shall apply for admission direct to the University along with the
other candidates. They need not apply through the Federal Ministry of Education
Islamabad as the Foreign Students should do.
-
These candidates shall have
to appear and qualify the test and interview conducted by the concerned department along with the other candidates applying on general merit. However, the merit
of this category of applicants will be determined from amongst the candidates
applying on the basis of Overseas Pakistani Children.
Admission on "Non-Subsidized
Category"

admission to M.A/M.Sc. classes on merit, some seats shell be reserved for

The eligibility
of the candidates seeking admission on "Self Finance Basis" will
be the same as laid down for the candidates applying to the 5th year class
in this University on open merit.
Admission Procedure

The candidates shall have to qualify the test and interview conducted by the
Department concerned.
-
The admission will be made from amongst the applicants on "Self Supporting
Basis".
-
The Final admission will be subject to the approval of the University
Admission Committee.
-
The candidates shall have to pay Rs.50,000/-at the time of admission along
with regular dues in 5th year. However in 6th year he/she shall only pay
regular dues.
Admission on "Sports Basis"

Each postgraduate department will have
one seat on sports basis, previous achievements in the field of sports
will be necessary condition for the candidates and they will have to

The candidates seeking admission on the
basis of Sports shall submit a Sports Form along with the general
Application Form in the authorized bank. For each Sport Activity on
the basis of which the candidate wishes to get the admission, a
separate form shall be submitted by him.
-
The students applying for admission on
the basis of Sports shall have to submit along with the admission form
an affidavit to the effect that they shall take part in Sports events
on behalf of the University. They will also have to practice regularly
in the University, otherwise their admission will be cancelled.
-
Candidates for admission on Sports basis
shall have to take part in trials of their respective Sports as per
schedule of trials.
-
Sports and Special Category certificates
will not be accepted after the last date for the submission of the
admission form.
-
The students securing admission on
Sports Basis will in no case be allowed to represent. or to play for,
or seek employment in any Government / Semi-Government or Private
Institution/club, such as WAPDA, Pakistan Railway! Police! etc., at
the district,
provincial or national level. An affidavit shall have to be attached
to this effect, to the candidates admission application. Those who
violate these regulations will be expelled from the University
Expulsion from University can not be challenged in any Court of Law.
Fee Schedule for MA/MSc
Payment of Fees, Funds and
Other Dues

-
All dues including Examination fee once paid are not
refundable.
-
The University fees, funds and other dues must be paid
on the dates notified by the University.
-
Dues will not be deposited in the Bank on 1st and 2nd
working day of every month due to payment of University staff salary.
-
Payment of dues should be made direct in the Bank
through Bank Challan in cash only. Cheque, Draft, Pay order, Travelers
Cheque etc. are not acceptable.
-
The students entitled to Tuition Fee Concession on the
basis of teachers son (BS:1 to BS:15), sister, brother fee concession
(if elder brother/sister studying in GCU) and Hafiz-e-Quran should
submit their Tuition Fee Concession Forms (available in Fee Section of
Treasurer Office) complete in all respect to the Fee Section within
due date notified by the University.
-
If a Challan is lost by student, he/she will have to
pay fine of As. 50 for duplicate challan form.
-
If a student fails to pay his/her dues by the specified
date he/she will pay a fine of Rs. 50 per day up-to one week after due
date.
-
In case he/she fails to pay the dues even one week
after the due date for payment of dues along with fine, his/her name
will be struck off the University rolls. if he/she is allowed
restoration of admission he/she will have to deposit Rs. 500 as
restoration Fee.
-
For restoration of admission he/she shall submit the
application within due date (mentioned in the struck off
Notification). No application will be entertained after the expiry of
this date.
-
Account to GC University Rules. the library security is
Refundable within two years after the end of academic session after
which the refund shall not be admissible Refund shall only be
admissible after all University dues have been paid.

Immediately after admission. students will be required
to pay the following dues for the period from May to July:
