PROF. KHALID SALEEM PASSES AWAY

Lahore Staff Secretary Prof. Khalid Saleem has passed away.
A large of university teachers and students attended his
funeral prayers at 225 Ravi Park.
GCU Vice
Chancellor, paying tribute to the services of Prof. Khalid
Saleem, expressed grief on his sad demise. In a condolence
message, the vice chancellor prayed the Allah Almighty to
give courage to the family of Prof Khalid Saleem to bear the
irreparable loss with fortitude.

QEC
AND MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT ARRANGES PRESENTATION ON
MATHEMATICS FOR ALL
Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) in collaboration with the
Department of Mathematics at Government College University
Lahore conducted a Presentation on the topic “Mathematics
for All” at Sir Fazal-e-Hussain Reading Room. The Department
of Mathematics of GCU followed the guidelines of Higher
Education Commission (HEC) and prepared new curriculum for
the students of the department.
Dean Faculty of Science and Technology Dr. Amin ul Haq Khan
in his concluding remarks appreciated the promotional
academic efforts by the Department of Mathematics. He said
that GCU is the only University, which is following the
initiatives of HEC in all academic affairs. He said that the
Vice Chancellor GCU Lahore Dr. Khalid Aftab is always
interested in the promotion of academic and research related
activities. Speaking on the occasion, the Director Quality
Enhancement Cell (QEC) Ms. Iram Sohail said that the purpose
of this presentation session is sharing the changes by means
of meaningful dialogue and discussion.

5TH INTERNATIONAL KANGAROO MATHEMATICS CONTEST
(IKMC) 2009 FOR THE STUDENTS OF FA/FSC PART-I & II
The Abdus Salam School of Mathematical
Sciences (ASSMS), GC University Lahore is organizing the 5th
International Kangaroo Mathematics contest on April 16th
2009. This contest is the world’s largest international
mathematical events. It is organized by the international
association “Mathematiques Pourtous” also known as
Mathematics without Borders.
Who can participate?
All the students of F.A/F.Sc (Part I & II)
are eligible to participate in this contest.
Participation Fee:
Rs. 500/- per student
How to participate?
Interested students must submit the following
to the office of Assistant Registrar (Academic):
1. Original
Fee Deposit Challan
2. One
copy of Fee deposit Challan
3. One
copy of University I.D. Card.
Note: Fee
deposit challan can be obtained from fee section (Treasurer
Office)
Deadline for registration:
Tuesday, 10 March 2009
Prizes and Awards

categories of class, school, city and at national level.
