MATHEMATICS CAMP
AT GCU CONCLUDES

The third
mathematics camp, jointly organized by the
National Centre for Mathematics
and
School of Mathematical Sciences in preparation of
world Mathematics Olympiad, concluded.
Prof. Dr. Khalid Aftab Vice Chancellor GC University, Lahore,
speaking on the occasion, said the teachers were a source of
guidance to the students and capable faculty could enlighten
the students in excelling their area of studies in the best
probable way He urged the young mathematicians to strive
hard for achieving excellence.
Prof. Dr.
D R Chaudhry SMS Director General, said 49 students,
selected from across the country participated in the
preparatory camp. He said the objective of the camp was to
prepare the students for the international mathematics
Olympiad scheduled to be held in Vietnam next year. He
lauded the services of foreign professor Dan Schwarz for his
coaching services for the students at the camp. “We are
fortunate that the main coach of our team, Prof. Schwarz, is
himself a champion of the Olympiad,” he added.
At
the end, the Vice Chancellor gave away certificates to the
camp participants.
