Punjabi Majlis organizes
mushaira
The
GC University Lahore Punjabi Majlis on Wednesday organized a Punjabi
Mushaira at the university’s Bukhari Auditorium. Vice Chancellor
Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman was the Chief Guest while noted
PTV’s anchor Tariq Aziz chaired the Mushaira. As many as 35 poets
presented their poetry at the five-hour long Punjabi Mushaira.

PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY organized the Punjab Spring Festival
Punjabi Majlis and Department of Philosophy organized the Punjab
Spring Festival to celebrate the colors of spring and promote social
and cultural integration among students. GCU Dean Faculty of Arts
and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Khalid Pervaiz inaugurated the two-day
festival which was marked by traditional food and brewages stall,
live music performances, cultural dance performances and horse dance
with ‘dhol’. However, the traditional dance performances by groups
of Balochi and Phathan students remained the most enthralling events
of the day. The venue was decorated in traditional village style
with Hukka, Charkha , pitchers etc. The students also arranged a
special Bhagai (traditional horse cart) to drop visitors to the
festival venue. The student delegation of various departments
attired traditionally visited the festival.
 
Speaking on the occasion, GCU Dean Prof. Dr.
Khalid Pervaiz said that the western culture is rapidly promoting in
Pakistan because youth are not being provided such opportunities to
understand and adopt their culture. He laid a stress on promoting
and keeping alive Pakistan’s core values and strong cultural
heritage. He also said that these events also give students a chance
to enjoy as in semester system; they remain extensively busy in
their academic activities.

Punjabi Majlis GCU pays tribute to Prof. Abbas Najmi
Pujabi Majlis GC University Lahore has organized a condolence
reference in the memory of the late Prof. Abbas Najmi, a renowned TV
compare and paid tribute to the commendable services at University.
Prof.Dr. Khawaja Muhammad Zakaria chaired the reference while Abdul
Waheed, Dr. Shafiq Ajami, Dr Iqbal saqib, Dr Tariq Zaidi, Prof. Dr.
Isamat Ullaha Zahid and Umar Abbas Najmi spoke on the occasion. A
large number of students of the late Prof. Abbas Najmi also attended
the condolence reference.
