RQS ACHIEVEMENTS
2010-11
RQS team
Comprised of Rana Asif Nazeer, Ammara Batool and Rana Saifullah
represented GC University Lahore in All Pakistan Inter-University
Quiz Competition held at Aitchison College Lahore and secured 3rd
position.
President RQS,
Rana Asif Nazeer took part in the reconciliation quiz competition
held at PTV Centre Lahore and secured 2nd position and
also won the cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
RQS team
comprised of Rana Asif Nazeer and Obaidullah Sahi participated in
Sarwar-e-Qainat Seerat-e-Nabi (S.A.W) Quiz Competition and secured 2nd
position.
Bhutto Shanasi
Quiz Competition held at PTV Centre Lahore in March 2011, President
RQS Rana Asif Nazeer bagged 1st position in the
competition with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000.
Benzair Bhutto Shaheed Quiz Competition 2011 held at PTV Centre
Lahore RQS consisted of Rana Asif Nazeer and Sana Naeem secured 3rd
position.

GCU CSD WINS
QUAID-E-AZAM QUIZ COMPETITION
Computer Science
Department won GCU’s Quaid-e-Azam Quiz Competition 2011 organized by
the Ravians Quiz Society in connection with the 136th birth
anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali JIinnah. GCU Vice
Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq ur Rehman;
Izaz-I-Kamal, was the Chief Guest. As many as 31 societies and
academic departments of the GC University Lahore did participate in
quiz competition. Muhammad Qamar Shabbir and Rehman Latif, the
students of BSc (Hons) Computer Sciences, scored the highest points
and lifted the winners’ trophy. Department of Statistics secured the
second position.
The competition
spanned up to four rounds namely; team round, individual round,
category round, multimedia round, in which questions mainly focused
the personality and educational and political life of Quaid e Azam
Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Addressing the
prize distribution ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr.
Muhammad Khaleeq ur Rehman; Izaz-I-Kamal, advised the Ravians to
lead a life of a true Muslim and a patriot Pakistani. He paid
tribute to Jinnah and stressed the students to bring the Muslim
glory back in the field of social sciences and science and
technology.

RQS HOSTS INTER-DEPARTMENTAL FAIZ QUIZ
COMPETITION
The GC University
Lahore Ravians Quiz Society organised an inter-departmental Faiz
Ahmed Faiz Quiz Competition which was won by the university’s
History Department with overall 155 points. GCU Vice Chancellor
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq ur Rehman was chief guest at the battle
of minds amongst as many as 13 academic departments of University.
The competition spanned up to 6 rounds namely; Team round,
Individual round, Category Round, Multimedia Round, Speed Round and
Dodge Round, in which questions mainly focused the literary works
and life of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. After a rigorous battle of minds, the
Statistics Department was declared third, Department of Chemistry
secured 2nd position whereas, team from Department of History
comprised of Amish Hassan and Tehseen Wattoo scored the highest
points to lift the winners’ trophy of Faiz Ahmed Faiz Quiz
Competition 2011. Rana Saifullah and Sima Nawaz Cheema hosted the
competition.
Addressing the
prize distribution ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad
Khaleeq-ur-Rahman said that celebrating the year 2011 as the year of
Faiz Ahmed Faiz, the GCU has initiated a quiz competition named
after the eminent Old Ravian poet to pay tribute to his influential
poetry. He advised the Ravians to lead a life of a true Muslim and a
patriot Pakistani. He paid tribute to Faiz, Allama Iqbal and
Rajinder Singh Bedi and especially discussed Iqbal’s stay in Germany
which even Germans reckon and named their street after the Muslim
poet. He threw light on the glorifying era of Muslim scientists such
as Ibn-e-Haisham, Al Beironi etc and stressed the students to bring
the Muslim glory back in the field of social sciences and science
and technology.

fourth mastermind quiz
competition 2011
Ravians Quiz Society organized its fourth
mastermind quiz competition in Sir Fazal-e- Hussain Reading Room.
Sixteen teams took in qualifying test out of which eight teams
qualified for the competition. Khalid Ranjha, Ahmad Bilal and
Tehseen Watto got 1st, 2nd and 3rd
positions respectively. Later, the Chief Guest; Mehmood Ul Hassan
Bazmi, Head of Punjab Department distributed prizes among the
winners.

RQS GCU holds ALL PUNJAB quiz competition
Ravians Quiz Society GC University Lahore hosted All Punjab
Quiz Competition 2011 at the Bokhari Auditorium. The teams from 19
different institutions took part in the competition. Justice (R) Mrs
Nasira Javed Iqbal was the Chief Guest, while GCU Vice Chancellor
Prof. Khalid Aftab also witnessed competition won by the Aitcheson
College Lahore. Military College Jehlum stood second while SIMS
secured the third position. GCU students Rana Saifullah, Wajeeha
Ijaz, Saad Jamal and Ammara Batool hosted the quiz competition.
Speaking on the
occasion, Mrs Nasira Javed Iqbal appreciated the knowledge of the
students, saying that ultimately it is the hard work and sincerity
that pays off. Later, prizes and shields were given to the winners
of the competition.
