GCU HOLDS QUIZ CONTEST
GC University Lahore Ravians Quiz Society hosted the Master Mind
Quiz Competition 2013. About 133 students from the university’s
various departments participated in the contest chaired by Vice
Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman, while famous anchor
Noor-ul-Hassan was the chief guest. Usman Mustafa from the Persian
Department won the contest.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman said that
“quiz contests sharpen the hidden abilities of students, and
strengthen their analysis towards all aspects of life”. He
congratulated the winners and called upon the students to actively
participate in such contests.

GCU holds
Quiz competition
The GC University Lahore
Ravians Quiz Society has organized 2 days 6th All Punjab
inter-collegiate and inter-university quiz contest. As many as 22
teams from top educational institutes of Punjab, including Kinnaird
College, Punjab University, Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Chanab
College Jhang, GC University Faislabad, University of Gujrat and
Lahore College for Women University, took part in this contest. GCU
Vice Chancellor Prof Meritorious Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman
chaired the final round while Pakistan cricket team former captain
Inzamam-ul-Haq was the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion
Prof Khaleeq appreciated the efforts of Ravians Quiz society for
organizing events par excellence. The Vice Chancellor called upon
the students to take interest in creative and co-curricular
activities like Quiz competitions which are equally necessary for
academic learning. The Vice Chancellor pledged his support to every
activity which tends to groom and nurture the students in all
spheres of learning.

Inzamam-ul-Haq while speaking on the occasion seemed nostalgic about
his alma mater and said that it is very good to visit GC University
after 21 years. Haq appreciated the efforts of University in
producing men of great honor and that the University has been the
oldest seat of learning and higher education in Pakistan.
In the final round,
Services Institute of Medical Sciences secured first position after
a very tough competition while University of Engineering Technology
and Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad stood 2nd and 3rd
respectively.

GCU BDS wins quiz contest
GC University Lahore
Blood Donor Society (GCU BDS) won First Intra-university
Seerat-ul-Nabi (PBUH) Quiz Contest organized by the Ravians Quiz
Society. As many as 18 departments and 20 societies of GCU took part
in the quiz contest. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad
Khaleeq-ur-Rahman chaired the final round of contest while Punjab
Secretary Archeology Oriya Maqbool Jan was the Chief Guest. Zoology
Department secured the second position, while Political Science
Department stood third in the contest.

Alama Iqbal Quiz Competition
GC
University Lahore Ravians Quiz Society organized 1st Inter
Departmental Allama Iqbal Quiz Competition at the University’s
Bukhari Auditorium to pay tribute to the Shair-e-Mashriq and Old
Ravian Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Chief Justice ® Javiad Iqbal, the son
of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, graced the occasion as chief guest while
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman was also
present. As many as 25 teams participated in the competition. The
department of Statistics won this competition where as Persian
Department and Intermediate Studies stood 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Talking to Ravians, former Chief Justice Javed Iqbal called upon the
youth to understand the message of Allama Iqbal. He expressed that
“Iqbal’s whole life and his works are essentially intended to
inspire the young Muslims of subcontinent, it is therefore necessary
for you to understand his works in true spirit.”

GCU ALL PAKISTAN INTER-UNIVERSITY QUIZ
COMPETITION
Ravians Quiz Society organized the GCU All Pakistan Inter-University
Quiz Competition 2012. As many as 37 universities from all over
Pakistan took part in the quiz contest to win the title of ‘’GCU
Brain of Pakistan’’.
The Agriculture University Faisalabad won the two days competition,
while Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad secured the second
position. University of Engineering and Technology Lahore stood
third. Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) Vice Chairman and Old
Ravian Dr. Amjad Saqib graced the final round of the quiz contest as
the chief guest, while GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr.
Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rehman was also present. Addressing the
students, Dr. Saqib said real essence of character building and
shaping of ideas takes place here at the portals of GCU. He
appreciated participation of 37 universities in the contest and
congratulated Ravians Quiz Society for gathering the geniuses of
Pakistan at one platform.
At the end Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad
Khaleeq-ur-Rehman gave away prizes and shields to the winners of the
contest.

RQS ORGANIZES INTRA-DEPARTMENTAL GCU
MASTERMIND 2012
Ravians Quiz Society organized Inter departmental “GCU Mastermind
2012” Competition. As many as 84 students from various academic
departments of GCU took part in the quiz which was spanned over nine
brainstorming rounds. Out of 84 participants, Political Science
student Aadersh Hamza got first position. History Department student
Tehseen Wattoo and Maheen Iqbal of Bio-technology Department secured
second and third positions respectively.

5th GCU All Punjab
Inter-University Quiz Competition 2012 held under the aegis of GCU
Ravians Quiz Society. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr.
Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman; Izaz-I-Kamal, chaired the final round
that was won by Agriculture University of Faisalabad while
University of Engineering and Technology remained runners up. Punjab
University Law College and Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad
secured third and fourth positions respectively. As many as 21
educational institutions including Quaid-e-Azam University
Islamabad, Agriculture University Faisalabad, UET Lahore and Punjab
University Law College Lahore took part in the two-day competition.

Addressing the students, Justice (r)
Khwaja Muhammad Sharif shared his memories associated with the
Government College and also expressed the unique feeling of being a
Ravian. He said that Ravians will guide the nation out of the
present era crises. The former Chief Justice also congratulated the
winners and conveyed his warms regards to the participants of other
universities.
GCU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq ur Rehman while
speaking at the occasion congratulated the top four teams on their
accomplishment to secure their place in the final round after a
tough competition with rest of the 17 teams of All Punjab Quiz
Competition 2012.

RQS ACHIEVEMENTS
2010-11
RQS team
Comprised of Rana Asif Nazeer, Ammara Batool and Rana Saifullah
represented GC University Lahore in All Pakistan Inter-University
Quiz Competition held at Aitchison College Lahore and secured 3rd
position.
President RQS,
Rana Asif Nazeer took part in the reconciliation quiz competition
held at PTV Centre Lahore and secured 2nd position and
also won the cash prize of Rs. 10,000.
RQS team
comprised of Rana Asif Nazeer and Obaidullah Sahi participated in
Sarwar-e-Qainat Seerat-e-Nabi (S.A.W) Quiz Competition and secured 2nd
position.
Bhutto Shanasi
Quiz Competition held at PTV Centre Lahore in March 2011, President
RQS Rana Asif Nazeer bagged 1st position in the
competition with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000.
Benzair Bhutto Shaheed Quiz Competition 2011 held at PTV Centre
Lahore RQS consisted of Rana Asif Nazeer and Sana Naeem secured 3rd
position.

GCU CSD WINS
QUAID-E-AZAM QUIZ COMPETITION
Computer Science
Department won GCU’s Quaid-e-Azam Quiz Competition 2011 organized by
the Ravians Quiz Society in connection with the 136th birth
anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali JIinnah. GCU Vice
Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq ur Rehman;
Izaz-I-Kamal, was the Chief Guest. As many as 31 societies and
academic departments of the GC University Lahore did participate in
quiz competition. Muhammad Qamar Shabbir and Rehman Latif, the
students of BSc (Hons) Computer Sciences, scored the highest points
and lifted the winners’ trophy. Department of Statistics secured the
second position.
The competition
spanned up to four rounds namely; team round, individual round,
category round, multimedia round, in which questions mainly focused
the personality and educational and political life of Quaid e Azam
Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Addressing the
prize distribution ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr.
Muhammad Khaleeq ur Rehman; Izaz-I-Kamal, advised the Ravians to
lead a life of a true Muslim and a patriot Pakistani. He paid
tribute to Jinnah and stressed the students to bring the Muslim
glory back in the field of social sciences and science and
technology.
