A condolence reference was held at the Government College University
Lahore on Thursday to pay tribute to Dr Jaffer Hussain, the incharge of
Statistics Department, who passed away last week at the age of 42. Dr
Hussain, who was also awarded doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree in
Statistics last year from GCU, left behind a widow and two children.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, GCU deans Prof Dr Islam Ullah
Khan, Prof Dr Tahir Kamran, Prof Dr Iqbal Shah and Prof Dr Raiz Ahmed,
all senior faculty members and staff of the university and the
deceased’s family attended the condolence reference. Speaking on the
occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that Dr Jaffer Hussain was an honest,
dedicated and hard-working teacher and colleague, and his services for
the University would always be remembered. He said that void created by
his demise in the Statistics Department could never be filled. “I tender
my sincere sympathy to his children who had lost their father, who was
an honest and highly valuable person, at a very tender age. I wish them
success in life, and our doors are always open for them for every kind
of help, assistance or guidance,” the VC said.
The reference was also addressed by Prof Dr Sultan Shah and Prof
Inam-ul-Haq. Special prayers were also offered for late departed soul on
the occasion. Prof Inam-ul-Haq highlighted the different aspects of Dr
Jaffer Hussain’s life, and his noble character as a teacher, father,
brother and friend.
GCU produces PhD in Statistics
The Government College University,
Lahore has produced a doctor of philosophy (PhD) in the
field of Statistics. Assistant Professor Jaffer Hussain
completed his thesis on the topic of “A Study on Skip-R
Sampling Plan using AQL, LQL, Cpk and some Life Time
Distributions” under the supervision of Dr Muhammad Aslam.
The GCU Examination Department has issued a notification
after approval of his thesis. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr
Hassan Amir Shah congratulated Assistant Professor Jaffer
Hussain on completion of PhD.
