Trilingual Mess of English, Urdu and Punjabi has ruined
strong creative potential of Pakistani students. These
languages have become a lingual phenomena of our nation. The
native people can create the best literature through most
refined native language. It was expressed by Prof. Mirza
Athar Baig Chairperson Philosophy & IDC Department GCU here
in Teacher-Students Dialogue program. Sondhi Translation
organized a seminar on “Trend of Translation in Social
Sciences".
Prof. Baig said in inter-lingual translation there is
always possibility of loss of real essences of the words of one
language. He also lamented the lack of translation experts in the
country and referred to their importance in translating books of
high knowledge value from the West. He further said that every
language is unique window through which we can see the world and the
gradual loss of Punjabi language is just like closing a window to
see the world.
Dr. Asar Ajmal of Psychology department GCU said language
played a vital role in bridging or breaching the interpersonal and
interstate relations as languages are the mean of either information
and understanding or disinformation and misunderstanding. He
critically evaluated the paradoxes produced by languages. He said
that inter-lingual expressions do have cultural effects. He also
said that right from the beginning of the civilized world till today
the art of translating is continuing. He also stressed on the
complications between source and target language. He also grieved
over the situation of Punjabi language saying, “the cultural
ambience of Punjabi is being brought down which is a point to ponder
over as the loss of any language is indeed great loss of culture of
a nation. Dr. Asir stressed on preserving tradition along with
making progress while dissolving the paradox between the two in
order to start real journey of prosperity. He also said that lot of
work has been done on mysticism during last 100 years in the west
but the inter-lingual problems which the researchers have to face
were quite complicated and deep-rooted. He stressed on the context
of the world before it is translated.
The in-charge of Sondhi Translation Society also addressed
