About Endowment Fund trust (EFT)

Government College has always been the best institution for the best seeking academic excellence. Since becoming University in 2002, the demand for resources has increased manifolds. Funds are needed to enhance academic and research scholarship programs for students and faculty, to increase financial aid for the needy, bright students, to build new blocks and libraries and to restore old buildings of historic value. Universities all over the world seek financial support from their alumni to acquire a strong resource base. GCU- Endowment fund trust is likewise established to collect donations from old Ravians. The principal amount collected is never spent, only the income earned on the principal is to be used by GCU for specific purposes.

A university is as good as its resources. To make GCU, one of the best, old alumni should come forward and donate the maximum possible to give GCU a resource reservoir, of a size unprecedented, hitherto unknown in Pakistan. Each donor's name is recorded forever on the donor scrolls and his/her donation remains untouched forever as part of the principal amount collected in the Endowment Fund.

The Endowment Fund is maintained on permanent basis by the University in order to sustain and enhance its various programs and projects. It reflects commitment to future excellence and serves as the leading indicator of GCU's greatness.

Vice-Chancellor

The GC University Lahore is a unique educational institution of Pakistan. With over 140 years of history behind us (since 1864), we are also country's oldest institution of higher education.

Over the years, the GCU has made a tremendous contribution to furthering knowledge and enlightenment, as well as helping students to achieve their potential. The University Endowment campaign is a statement of our ambition to build upon achievements and become a great international university, It is also a recognition that in an era of scarce government funding, we must once again embrace philanthropy to secure the required investment to match our goals. While the University has in many respects changed greatly from the one that Dr. G.W. Leitner built in 1864, our fundamental purpose remains the same - to benefit society through the advancement of knowledge. In that sense, the Endowment campaign is about helping the University as it reaches out to help the knowledge seekers.

We have already made an impressive start, and while there remains much more to do, I am confident that with the support of our entire community of staff, students, alumni and friends, we will see GCU become an even stronger university in the future.
