in 1999. MS/MPhil Programmes are being offered in the following
subjects to both male and female candidates:

Eligibility Criteria for MS/MPhil

A person having sixteen years of Education or 4-
year education (130 credit hours) after HSSC/ALevel/
Grade-12/Equivalent, the minimum required marks/ grades for
admission in MS/MPhil will be as follows:

Faculty of Science & Technology 2.50/4.00 CGPA or 60% in an
Annual Examinations.

Faculty of Engineering 2.50/4.00 CGPA or 60% in an Annual
Examination.
-
Faculty of Arts & Social Science 2.50/4.00 CGPA or 60% in an
Annual Examination.
-
Faculty of Languages, Islamic & Oriental Learning 2.00/4.00
CGPA or 50% in Annual Examination.
-
Candidate must have passed NTS Graduate Assessment Test
(GAT-General) at the time of admission with atleast 50%
valid score.
-
Persons working in Government/Semi Government or private
institutions may apply. Such candidates shall have to submit
“No Objection Certificate” from the Head of the Institution
where they are working.

There is no age limit for admission to MS/M.Phil Programme.
-
A “Notification of Registration” of the candidates approved
for admission in MS/MPhil Programme shall be issued by the
Registrar.

Merit shall be determined on the basis of marks actually scored

Eligibility for PhD Admissions

-
A person holding MS/MPhil/Equivalent
Degree in the relevant discipline is eligible for
admission to PhD Programme if s/he possesses at least
3.00/ 4.00 CGPA (In case st s/he has studied in Semester
System) or 1 Division (In case s/he has studied in
Annual System) in his/her MS/MPhil/Equivalent Degree
from an Institution/University recognized in Pakistan.

Research work of minimum of 6 credit
hours in MS/MPhil Programme is mandatory.

A candidate has to qualify a Subject GRE
(International) Local (GAT/GCU) Test whichever is
applicable at the time of admission.

Admission to PhD shall not be open for 'nonsubject'
candidates. However, the criterion of related
subject/field for eligibility shall be determined by the
Academic Committee of the concerned Department.

Persons working in Government/Semi
Government or private institutions may apply. Such
candidates shall have to submit “No Objection

Registration and Commencement of PhD Programme

All the applications for admission to PhD
Programme shall be submitted to Deputy Registrar
(Admission). The Registrar shall pass on the
applications to the Chairperson of the concerned
department who shall get the eligibility of the
candidates assessed from the Departmental Academic
Committee and this Committee would also consider the
feasibility of admission taking into consideration the
availability of the supervisors and facilities, etc.

Each candidate for the PhD Programme shall submit a
declaration to the effect:
-
That s/he has not been registered for the
similar Degree programme elsewhere.
-
That no direct major work has already
been done by him/her or anybody else on the topic s/he
intends to work on, for PhD Degree.
-
That the work s/he shall submit for the PhD Degree has
not already been submitted elsewhere and shall not in
future be submitted by him/her for obtaining similar
Degree from any other institution.
-
Completion of 18 credit hours course
work.
-
Approval of the Research Synopsis for PhD
thesis by the Departmental Board of Studies and Advanced
Studies and Research Board.
Thesis for PhD Degree

A student will be given three years for completion of his/her
thesis for PhD starting from the date of his/her provisional
admission. An extension of two more years will be given in case
of non-completion or rejection of PhD thesis.
A research paper on the topic of PhD thesis must be accepted
/published in a HEC approved journal before the Viva Voce
Examination.

MPhil/MS Degree Programme
-
MS/MPhil Degree Programme is of 2 years' duration, divided
into 4 semesters.
-
There will be Course Work of at least 24 credit hours in the
first Academic Year, (i.e Semester-I and Semester-II).
-
There will be Thesis of 12 credit hours during the second
Academic Year (i.e. Semester-III and Semester-IV).
-
The maximum duration allowed to a student
for the completion of Course Work of MS/MPhil is 2 years
from the date of first admission.
-
A student of MS/MPhil will be given 1 year
for the completion of Thesis. An extension of 1 more year
may be given in case of non submission, or rejection of
Thesis.
-
A student has to complete at least 36
credit hours' study, out of which 12 credit hours are of
Thesis, for the completion of the Degree.
-
He/she has to score 2.50 CGPA at the end
of the Programme for the award of the Degree.
PhD Degree Programme
-
There shall be Course Work of 18 credit hours followed by a
Comprehensive Examination.

A student will be given 3 years for the completion of
his/her Thesis for PhD, starting from the date of his/her
provisional admission. An extension of 2 more years will be
given in case of non-completion or rejection of PhD Thesis.

A research paper on the topic of the PhD Thesis must be
