GCU Swimmer Bilal Maqbool Clinches 15 National Gold Medals in One Year

Muhammad Bilal Maqbool, an Intermediate Part-I Computer Science student at Government College University (GCU) Lahore, has won four gold medals at the Pakistan Inter-Board Swimming Championship 2025, bringing his total to 15 national gold medals within a single year.
These achievements include six gold medals at the 27th Junior National Swimming Championship and five at the Quaid-e-Azam Games—an extraordinary feat that places him among Pakistan’s most accomplished young swimmers. In addition to his athletic success, the 16-year-old Bilal has also excelled academically, scoring 1060 marks in his matriculation examination.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry invited Bilal to his office to commend his dedication and consistent performance. “GCU is proud of Bilal’s accomplishments and looks forward to seeing him represent Pakistan on the international stage,” he said.
Bilal’s latest victories in the Inter-Board Championship came in the 50-meter butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle events, earning him the title of Best Swimmer with Distinction. The runner-up position was also secured by another GCU student, Muhammad Ahmed, reaffirming the university’s dominance in national swimming competitions.
Bilal was selected for the Pakistan Inter-Board Championship based on his outstanding performance in the Lahore Inter-Collegiate Swimming Championship 2024, where he won eight gold medals, securing first place in every category he entered.
