Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) organized one day seminar on Importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in Academia on Thursday, 22nd September, 2022 at GC University Lahore. Faculty members and PhD scholars of various departments attended the seminar. After a welcome note by the Director ORIC, Prof. Dr. Faiza Sharif, the Guest of Honor Mr. Ali Raza Khan, Additional Director STI, Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) briefed the faculty and students about the importance of intellectual property rights. Resource Person Mr. Muhammad Umar Ashraf, Director IPO conducted an interactive session with the participants and addressed their various queries about importance of registration of IP rights, copy rights and trademarks. He also discussed about the penalties against violations of intellectual property rights. Resource person Ms. Shakra Khurshid, Assistant Controller IPO Regional office Lahore addressed the audience about significance of Patents & Design Law. She also briefed the participants about the process of registration of industrial designs and patents and their territorial limits. The resource person also discussed about the patentable and non-patentable subject matters and areas of technology. After certificate distribution ceremony, the session was closed with a vote of thanks by the Director ORIC Dr. Faiza Sharif.
