Chinese, Turkish, Iranian Diplomats attend GCU IR Dept Annual Dinner

The Department of International Relations at Government College University (GCU) Lahore hosted its annual dinner, attended by Consul Generals from various countries and other distinguished guests.
The event’s chief guests included Chinese Consul General Mr. Zhao Shiren, Turkish Consul General Mr. Durmus Bastug, Iranian Consul General Mr. Mehran Mohdfar, and Dr. Asghar Masoodi, Director General of Khana-e-Farhang Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore.
Notable attendees from GCU included Professor Emeritus Dr. Iqbal Shahid, Dr. Ahmad Raza Khan, In-Charge of the International Relations Department, Chief Librarian Muhammad Naeem and Controller of Examinations Muhammad Shahzad. Students delivered speeches in Chinese, Turkish, and Persian, focusing on strengthening international relations, promoting cultural harmony, and fostering friendship among nations.
In his address, Chinese Consul General Mr. Zhao Shiren encouraged students to uphold honesty, integrity, and excellence, emphasizing their role in carrying forward the institution’s legacy and strengthening China-Pakistan relations.
Turkish Consul General Mr. Durmus Bastug highlighted the growing cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan in the fields of education, technical training, and vocational sectors. He mentioned ongoing initiatives for faculty and student exchange programs and collaborative research projects between the two nations.
Iranian Consul General Mr. Mehran Mohdfar emphasized the importance of educational and cultural collaboration in enhancing diplomatic ties between Iran and Pakistan, fostering stronger international relations.
Dr. Ahmad Raza Khan, In-Charge of the International Relations Department, stated that partnerships with various consulates would open new educational opportunities for students and pave the way for future bilateral cooperation.
Prof. Dr. Iqbal Shahid thanked the distinguished guests on behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali. A moment of silence was observed to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country, with all attendees paying tribute to their memory.
