GCU celebrates Youm-e-Takbeer

The Government College University (GCU) Lahore commemorated Youm-e-Takbeer to pay tribute to the national heroes who played a pivotal role in making Pakistan's defence invincible.
Speaking on the occasion, GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan’s sovereignty and security are non-negotiable. “If you wish to defend your freedom, you must have the courage to stand firm. History remembers the brave,” he said.
Brigadier (r) Dr. Waheed uz Zaman Tariq highlighted the crucial contributions of GCU alumni in the development of Pakistan’s nuclear program. He underscored that Pakistan's successful downing of Rafale jets stands as a testament that it is not the weapon but the person who operates it that matters most.
The ceremony featured passionate speeches by members of GCU’s Debating Society, reflecting on the significance of May 28 in Pakistan's defence history. Students from the Nazir Ahmed Music Society also presented renditions of Allama Iqbal’s poetry.
