GCU Lahore Students Shine in International Hockey, Win Silver Medal for Pakistan at U-18 Asia Cup 2025

Two students from Government College University (GCU) Lahore demonstrated outstanding performance while representing Pakistan in the Under-18 Asia Cup Hockey Tournament 2025 held in China, securing a silver medal alongside the national team.
Ali Taj, a student of Business Accounting and finance, and Ghulam Mustafa, enrolled in Intermediate First Year, were part of Pakistan’s U-18 national hockey squad. Both players contributed significantly throughout the tournament and played a key role in the team’s semi-final victory against Malaysia, which paved the way to the final. Based on their overall performance, Pakistan finished second and clinched the silver medal.
GCU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Omar Chudhary congratulated the students on their achievement, terming it a matter of pride for the university. He stated that this accomplishment reflects the students’ hard work, dedication, and the institution’s consistent support, further strengthening GCU’s positive reputation.
Director Sports Muhammad Waseem Akhtar appreciated the players’ efforts and encouraged them to continue demonstrating their abilities at higher levels in the future.
On this occasion, Ghulam Mustafa expressed that the recognition and encouragement from the university leadership had boosted his confidence and motivated him to strive harder in upcoming competitions.
Ali Taj shared that he is studying at GCU on a sports basis, and the facilities and support provided by the university have positively impacted his performance, as evidenced by this international success.
