Government College University Lahore marked Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry. The event drew a large gathering of faculty members, students, and administrative staff, reflecting the university’s patriotic spirit and commitment to national values.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Chaudhry congratulated the nation and paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans whose sacrifices secured the country’s freedom. He emphasized that *“Pakistan Zindabad”* is not merely a slogan but a pledge to perform one’s duties with honesty and dedication—whether for the country, the institution, or in everyday professional responsibilities.
Calling independence a priceless blessing from Allah, he reminded attendees that the open skies and freedoms enjoyed today are the result of immense sacrifices by the nation’s forefathers. He urged everyone to remain prepared for future challenges, noting that testing times can persist long after conflicts end. “Now is the time to show the world that we are truly a living nation,” he said.
The ceremony also featured passionate speeches by members of GCU’s Debating Society.
